Broken down on I-69 — do this now

Get as far right as the car allows — onto the shoulder, past the rumble strip, wheels turned away from traffic. Hazards on. Then the counterintuitive part: stay in the car, belted, unless you can get well beyond the barrier or down the embankment. People standing beside disabled cars on interstate shoulders are struck with grim regularity; the car's steel is your best cover. Then call — tell us your direction of travel and the last exit you passed. Mile markers work too.

Why exit numbers matter

"I-69 northbound just past exit 205" gets a truck to you in one pass. "Somewhere on 69 by Fishers" gets a truck hunting both directions through 10 miles of interstate. Is it legal to walk to an exit?
Legal, mostly; wise, rarely. Unless the exit is genuinely close and there's a barrier to walk behind, the car is safer. We're 20–35 minutes out.
Does Indiana have a free motorist-assist patrol?
The Hoosier Helper program covers some Indy-area interstates during daytime hours with basics like fuel and tire help. After hours, weekends, or anything needing a tow — that's a call to us.
Do you monitor I-69 at night?
Our night dispatch prioritizes interstate calls and positions trucks accordingly on high-traffic nights, holiday weekends and ice events.
What does an interstate tow cost?
